When my oldest turned six, he got his own tablet, and suddenly I was introduced to the world of Minecraft. I didn’t understand it, but my son begged to be able to play, and was soon negotiating for more screen time so he could “build a totally awesome house.” Before I knew it, we were building and playing together — although he’s much better than I am.

Minecraft Super League Gaming

If you are also the parent of a Minecraft addict, there’s a really cool opportunity coming to Indianapolis. On August 17th, 18th, and 19th, Super League Gaming will be offering the opportunity to play Minecraft on the big screen at a local movie theater. How cool is that?

How Does It Work?

Kids bring a laptop and their best skills, and they link up with other gamers to play Minecraft — only instead of their computer screen and speakers, the game comes to life on the big screen with a movie theater sound system. Tickets are required for the kids that are playing, but parents get to watch for free! The games are scheduled for “after school” hours, so there’s plenty of time for homework and dinner in the evening.

This FAQ has a lot more great information about the event.

This fall, Super League Gaming will be kicking off six week gaming leagues — complete with a jersey! Check out their website for more info.
