When a circus has the distinction of being called “The Greatest Show on Earth,” you go into it with pretty high expectations. Luckily, this show did not disappoint.
When the show first started, the lights went down and my youngest got a little bit scared. However, after a few minutes, he was totally drawn into the show and having a blast. We all had a great time — I mean, how could you not? I’m not exaggerating when I say these are some of the bravest and most talented performers in the world. I checked in with the kids at intermission to ask everyone’s favorite thing so far, and my oldest enthusiastically exclaimed, “All of it!”
After the show, we got a little more specific with our favorites:
Four-year-old: “I liked it when the clowns hit each other with the dog bone!”
Five-year-old: “The Motorcycles!”
The Husband was a fan of the lions and tigers.
My favorite moment was a pretty specific one. There was a part of the show where the acrobats are tossing around fire like it’s no big thing. The lights when down, and the Fieldhouse was absolutely beautiful and magical in that moment. I tried to get a picture, but this doesn’t really do it justice.
The greatest part of the circus for me was that I really felt like a kid again. I got caught up in the excitement and wonder as much as my kids did. You find yourself holding your breath, wondering if these performers will really be able to pull off these daring stunts, and when they do you feel an amazing rush of adrenaline. This is not a kid’s show that you endure because you want to make your children happy. It’s truly a show for the whole family.
