This week, I really needed a laugh. It’s been a rough month for me. Thankfully, my bestie and I had a date to see Menopause the Musical.

Menopause the Musical

The show focuses on four women who meet by chance in a department store. Each one is going through “the change,” and they bond over their shared experience. The show is full of hilarious oldies, with the words changed to describe the struggles of menopause. My favorite was this line, to the tune of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” —

“In the guest room, or on the sofa, my husband sleeps tonight”

Each of the four women in the cast was fantastic, but the Career Woman, played by Linda Boston, blew everyone away with her vocals. And then we had a moment of starstruck wonder when we realized that the Earth Mother was played by none other than Megan Cavanagh, aka MARLA HOOCH FROM A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN YOU GUYS! The whole cast was hilarous, and we had a great time laughing and hearing what exciting things we have to expect when “the change” comes our way. And the big finale was a celebratory kick line for all of the ladies enduring those hot flashes and mood swings.

Menopause the Musical is playing through November 23rd at the Egyptian Room at the Old National Centre. If you’re a football widow on Sundays (like me), you can use the code BLUE for $29 tickets to the Sunday show. Leave the kids at home, and grab your mom*, aunt, sister, or best friend for a hilarious girls’ night out!

*Just don’t tell your mom there’s a song about a vibrator.

I was provided with tickets to see the show for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
