Last year, I had the honor of attending the CHAIRish the Children event at the Lucas Estate Sports Pavilion. CHAIRish is a fundraiser for The Villages of Indianapolis, where chairs painted by local artists are sold in a silent auction. I loved the gorgeous setting and the delicious food (there was a taco bar, you guys), but I was blown away by the artistry and talent reflected in the chairs available for auction.

CHAIRish the Children

Wait, Chairs?

Yes, chairs. I usually think of chairs as functional more than decorative, but CHAIRish the Children features one-of-a-kind chairs that are truly works of art. Why am I so excited about chairs? I’ve picked my five favorite chairs up for grabs this month so you can see exactly why I love them so much.

Fruit Chair

Wouldn’t this be perfect in a kitchen? I love the design, and the quote from Aristotle, which reads, “Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow-ripening fruit.”

Indiana University Chair

Hoosier Chair

This one may not be a favorite of the Boilermakers that read my blog, but my IU basketball-loving husband will probably be bidding on this one.

Colts Bench

Another of the many awesome sports-themed benches up for auction is this awesome Colts bench. Perfect for holding your game time snacks.

Chalkboard Table and Chairs

I am so in love with this set. Isn’t this the cutest idea? This would be perfect for my boys’ room.

Frozen Chair

Frozen Chair

I’ve written before about how much my boys love Frozenthe youngest even dressed as Olaf for Zoo Boo this year. I know they would flip over this chair, and I love it, too. It’s beautifully done, and the winner gets a bunch of Frozen goodies to take home with their chair.

How can you snag one of these (or the many other beautiful) chairs? Join me at this year’s CHAIRish the Children event!

All the proceeds from the event go to support The Villages, which is a great organization helping children and families here in Indiana. The Villages facilitated 107 adoptions of foster kids last year, and 92 cents of every dollar given to The Villages goes to helping foster kids and families in the state. You get a great evening out (date night!), and The Villages gets to keep helping foster kids find forever homes. That sounds like a great deal.
