If you’ve followed this blog for awhile, or you follow me on social media, you may already know that I am on the board of a fantastic organization called the Monkey Do Project. MDP partners with charitable organizations and aid providers in the Appalachian area of the United States, which is one of the poorest areas of country. We come alongside them with financial support and any other help we can give, so they can work to feed and clothe people in this poverty stricken region.
When we first partnered with a food bank in West Virginia, their shelves were empty. EMPTY. They couldn’t help anyone because they didn’t have anything. And because of restrictions on government and private funding, even when they did have food, they couldn’t always help everyone who needed help. Because of the generous support of donors, Monkey Do Project has been able to help them fill their shelves with food for anyone who needs it. No restrictions.
We are now working to help stock a brand new food bank in Dunbar, West Virginia. Dunbar is an area that does not have a food bank large enough to meet the staggering need. The goal is to raise $2,500 by Friday, September 5th. That’s next week. We are far from our goal, and we need your help.
If you are going to bed tonight without wondering what you will feed your kids tomorrow, I am asking you, nope — BEGGING YOU, to do two things:
1. Take a moment to be thankful for the blessing you have.
2. Pay it forward by making a donation.
I don’t care if it’s $1 or $100. If your children will be eating breakfast tomorrow, please do something for the children that might not be. Even a small gift can make a big difference in the life of a hungry family. The money raised goes directly to funding the food bank; there’s no middle man. The money you give will provide food and hope to people who truly need it.
