Last year, I had the honor of attending Ag Day at the Indiana State House. It was a great day where I got to meet Indiana farming families and recognized their contribution to our state and our nation. I also got to eat a lot of delicious food.

This year, we’re celebrating Ag Day on March 25th outside the Indiana State House. Several local food trucks will be there serving up homegrown goodness coming directly from Indiana farms. Here are five reasons I think this is a “can’t miss” event.

Ag Day 2014

The Food – If you haven’t eaten from an Indiana food truck, you’re missing some of the best dining Indy has to offer. As a Professional Food Truck Stalkerâ„¢, I can vouch for the yumminess of the food trucks in our city. Seriously.

The City – It’s (finally) Spring in Indianapolis! There are few things that are more beautiful than downtown Indy on a sunny day. Enjoy lunch outside and take in the beauty.

The Prizes – Did I mention there are prizes? THERE ARE PRIZES! While your visiting the food trucks, tweet with the hashtag #FarmsMatter. You can win something awesome right there on the spot.

The Support – When you buy your food from an Indianapolis food truck, you’re buying local and supporting business people right here in our city. You get to help local business owners and their families, and you help keep our city diverse and delicious.

#FarmsMatter – There isn’t a person in the state who isn’t affected by farmers. This event is a great opportunity to show your support to these farmers, and the businesses who buy their products. Indiana has a rich history of agriculture that has touched all of us. Showing your support for Indiana farmers allows that tradition to continue.

I’m proud to be a Hoosier, and honored to be an Indiana’s Family of Farmers Ambassador, because #FarmsMatter.
