I absolutely love going to the movies. I don’t think I realized just how much I loved going to the movies until I had kids and couldn’t go to the movies whenever I wanted. I love the whole experience: the theater, the popcorn, even the previews.
As a long time resident of the north side of Indianapolis, I was really excited to hear that there was a new theater moving into the location that I knew as the Movie Buff theater. I was even more excited when I found out the name of the new theater was Studio Movie Grill. Since the nearby Cinema Grill closed, there hasn’t been anywhere local where you could eat dinner and see a movie. It’s the little things like being able to have a meal and watch a movie on the big screen at the same time that make me happy.
We had our first chance to try out Studio Movie Grill on a chilly Friday when our outdoor plans were rained out. When I walked in, I couldn’t believe I was in the same theater - Studio Movie Grill is gorgeous and completely updated. When we got our tickets, we were able to pick the exact seats we wanted; all the theaters offer reserved seating.
We found our seats and ordered our food. Studio Movie Grill has an extensive menu, and the prices are comparable to a “sit-down” restaurant. My sandwich was delicious and the oldest devoured his pizza. If you’re just looking to see a movie, that’s not a problem! There’s no minimum food purchase required.
We loved the food, we loved the movie, and we had a really good experience. There were a couple of mistakes with our order, but I was really impressed with how things were handled. Our bill was adjusted and we were given two free movie passes. The service was first rate for our whole visit; literally every employee we passed greeted us with a smile. We’ll definitely be back.
Movies With a Twist
The thing that excites me most about Studio Movie Grill is all of their special programming. Just check out the Twist section of their website – they offer things like Girl’s Night Out, Brews ‘N Views, and a Saturday Toons Series, all with low ticket prices. They have special needs screenings of new children’s movies, which are FREE for special needs kids and their siblings. They also offer food and drink specials every night of the week. $5 Margarita Monday, anyone?
