This year we made several trips to the Indiana State Fair, and one of those trips was especially to see the Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals. At first, I was nervous as to how my oldest son would do. He loves trucks, but is also afraid of most loud things (lawnmower, vacuum, etc.). He was quiet at first, but after watching a couple of trucks do their jumps, he asked, “Are the gonna do it again?” By the end of the show, he was hooked. For the rest of the week, he was asking us where the monster trucks were, and if we could go see them again. He was hooked.
We will get another chance to see monster trucks at the Fairgrounds again this week. The Lucas Oil 4 Wheel Jamboree is coming to the Indiana State Fairgrounds September 14-16. The event will feature several trucks competing in a Tough Trucks challenge, Mud Drag Racing, a Family Fun Zone, and lots more fun for the truck lovers in your family. The part that we’re most excited about is seeing the famous monster truck Bigfoot and his Guinness World Record breaking long jump attempt! I think my husband may be more excited than my sons about that one.
We had a great time at the last monster truck event we attended, and we’re really looking forward to this one. The shows are high energy and were the perfect length of time for our young kids. We got to see lots of awesome jumping and car smashing, but the show was short enough that my boys didn’t get bored or antsy. The monster trucks are loud, so be sure to bring ear protection for your little ones. I also recommend bringing your camera, because you will want to capture the trucks in action. The boys still like to go back and look at the pictures we took and talk about all the cool things the monster trucks did.
If you have boys, I highly recommend making a trip to the fairgrounds for the 4 Wheel Jamboree this weekend. ALL the boys in your family will love it, Dad included. But it’s not just for boys; this mom had a great time as well! Here are the details:
