This week has been a rough one for me. My youngest has been sick with the virus from hell since Saturday, so neither one of us have got much sleep. As all moms know, caring for one sick child doesn’t mean the rest of your responsibilities get put on hold. I’ve also been taking care of my other son, writing, working, attempting to keep my house reasonably clean, etc. I’ve been close to my breaking point more than a couple of times, and my son isn’t the only one whose shed tears. Thankfully he’s starting to do better, but I’m still pretty pooped.
The Bright Spot
However, there has been one HUGE shining bright spot in my week. The amazing parenting website I write for, Prime Parents’ Club, is very graciously sponsoring my trip to Bloggy Conference 2012. Bloggy Con will be my first blogging conference, and I’m so excited to be a part of it. It will be a great opportunity to network, learn more about my craft, and share with the other attendees about Prime Parents’ Club.
About Prime Parents’ Club
Prime Parents’ Club was started back in October of 2010 (as 40MomsClub.com) as a place for moms in the prime of life – late 30s, 40s, and beyond – to connect and grow. After a few months, all those dads out there started to get jealous, so the site expanded and became Prime Parents’ Club in April of 2011. The site was founded by Jackie Wilson (of WritRams fame) after giving birth to her first child at the age of 39. Jackie didn’t think her age was that big of a deal, but the world around her sure did. Wilson was even rejected from a local play group:
“I actually received an email back stating that they were sorry to inform me that the play group wouldn’t be open to us because they found that ‘moms in the age range of 24 to 32 worked best for them.’ It was outrageous–ageism at its worst, from other moms no less! It was a blow to the ego. I still saw, and see, myself as a cool, hip mom. I think they’re missing out on vital experience by excluding older moms.”
The thing I love about Prime Parents’ Club is that it has great pieces about issues specific to prime parents, as well as great posts about the things all parents experience. And Prime Parents’ Club knows that you’re a parent, but you’re not just a parent. There are articles about parenting, movies, television, health, crafts, technology, social media, and so much more. The diverse team of contributors (including yours truly) bring their knowledge and perspective to the site, creating a great source of information and entertainment.
I’ve been with the site since the 40Moms Club days, I am so proud of what it has grown to be. We have some amazing talent writing for the site, a great VIPP Perks program that lets readers test products FOR FREE, and wonderful readers who engage in dialog with us and share our content around the web. I couldn’t ask for a better community to work with, and I am honored that Prime Parents’ Club has chosen to sponsor me for Bloggy Con 2012.
